Development Bank responds to pandemic The Bank mobilized its available resources to ensure that its premises are well-sanitized. Likewise, preventive measures were undertaken to keep its employees insulated by supplying them with complimentary Vitamin C-fortified pills and saps. As a precaution, employees and customers who enter the building are thermal-scanned for above normal body temperatures and are reminded to regularly use hand sanitizers with adherence to a DOH-recommended (Department of Health) hand washing procedure. With the move, there has been no reported case of said A(H1N1) influenza virus infection in the Bank. The 2009 flu pandemic is a global outbreak of a new strain of influenza virus, identified in April 2009, and commonly referred to as "swine flu". In early June, as the virus spread globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak to be a pandemic. The virus has continued to spread worldwide, especially to many less developed countries with limited healthcare systems. One major drug manufacturer has announced that the A(H1N1) vaccine will be available by end of September 2009.

Development Bank abides by new MDIC The Bank, in response to the new law, began updating all its deposit paraphernalia like passbooks, certificates, standees, decals and marketing collaterals that bears the old insurance coverage. Likewise, employees were reminded about the new provisions of the law especially on splitting of deposits, among others. Customers positively welcomed the new deposit insurance law, which they consider as one of the means to promote and safeguard their bank deposits. Republic Act 9576 also strengthened PDIC's regulatory oversight on banks through new authorities such as the conduct of special bank examinations, determination of products eligible for deposit insurance and examination of deposit accounts of ailing banks. With the new P500,000 insurance, over 97% of the total deposit accounts in the banking system is said to be protected.
